About Pete
Hello! My name is Pete Karamountzos and I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Arts at Monash University.
I am passionate about the law and its ability to be used as both a platform to enact change but also as a mode by which groups and individuals can protect and advocate for themselves.
I'm actively seeking broad experiences in all facets of the law during my university years. This is in addition to my personal interest in social justice and human rights. I'm willing to take on any experience within my grasp. I am of the view that the broader legal experience will give me different insight that will compliment my learning. I expect I will also gain an understanding of where I want to take myself in any future career within the legal profession.
I recently furthered my interest while working part-time for a mining company. My work there is predominantly associated with laboring, including working in heavy machinery such as loaders and excavators. While there an issue arose that gave me the opportunity to conduct some legal research focused upon various licensing issues and consideration as to the legal strategies to be employed by the company in advancing their position. This gave me a glimpse as to the skills needed to be formidable in the future as a lawyer. This experience has influenced my view that in every opportunity there is possibility to gain insights and learning in my chosen career.
I have a strong work ethic and pride myself on my ability to finish tasks on time and to a high quality. I have worked in stressful conditions and understand the importance of being calm and continuing to work in a precise manner. I really love to test my boundaries and show people what I am capable of. Therefore, I believe every new experience is another building block towards becoming the best I can be.
Outside of legal work I have a very strong interest in History and complement that interest through reading historical books on various topics as well as studying it in the Arts component of my degree.
