About Tin
I am a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Monash University with a demonstrated history of working in the mechanical engineering drafting and researches. Originally from Vietnam, I arrived at Melbourne 6 years ago and am now actively looking to secure a career within the field of engineering or consulting through graduate programs as well as entry level positions.
I have a distinctive academic background with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree focused in Mechanical Engineering, graduated with a Weighted Average Mark of 84.964. Furthermore, I also enjoy working with people and obtained my Certificate IV Leadership and Management through the 3-year Engineering Leadership Program.
In summer 2016, I worked closely with Professor Wing Kong Chiu from Monash University and another post-doctoral researcher in a project sponsored by the US Navy and in collaboration with the Alfred Hospital. I successfully researched, designed and conducted experiments on several modelled human femurs to study existing problems in monitoring bone healing process. Using MATLAB, I developed a program which analysed experimental data and plotted key results of the project. I learned how to work in a fast-pace environment with responsibilities and deadlines, and developed my confidence by seeking feedback on my solutions from the supervisors. In addition, I also utilised what I learnt during the job in my Final Year Project. My efforts and findings were commended by Professor Chiu, who then became my Final Year Project’s supervisor.
In the Engineering Leadership Program, I developed my leadership through formal training provided by professionals from different industries, along with unique industrial and networking events. At Branin Pty Ltd, I have been working with several people who all have different backgrounds under the instructions of the managing director to model different parts and machines for a new recycling project and to recover vintage aircrafts. My role as a draftsperson at Branin and as a tutor for high school students both require me to communicate effectively to deliver my messages, understand the difficulties of a situation or a person and come up with suitable solutions for them.
With my background and experiences, I hope to secure a graduate or entry level position to gain expertise in engineering or consulting and to expand my network. I would love to learn more, to improve my networking skills and to grow as a person who can see the big picture and thus always welcome the opportunity to chat and discuss about ways that I can contribute to the industry.
