About Alessandra

I have a passion for analysing social behaviour and finding out why people think and do certain things. My career goal is to become a social researcher and communicator.
I'm currently completing my Bachelor of Arts Honours thesis under the School of Social and Political Sciences. My thesis is researching the way in which experiences of place and space are mediated by mobile technologies. I have a strong academic record, demonstrated by the following awards:
  • Included on Dean's Honour's List (2015, 2017)
  • VCE Australian Student Prize (2014)
  • VCE Premier's Award for Extended Investigation (2014)

I have also volunteered extensively in the migrant and refugee sector, having tutoring English with Syrian refugees, interned in the office of the Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women's Coalition, and run sports programs at a multicultural primary school. I am currently managing an offshoot project for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, which is engaging local communities groups in conversations about personal values and the asylum-seeking process.
