About Yasha

I am a Filipino student taking up my Master’s Degree in Marketing Communications at Melbourne University. I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology which has greatly helped me in all aspects of my life and career, whether directly or indirectly related to it. I particularly enjoy dealing with people and organising events and campaigns.
I co-founded a small events group called Strike Back, Attack!, under which we organised music gigs and fundraisers in Manila. My favourite and biggest projects was raising funds for Typhoon Haiyan (Typhoon Yolanda, in local speak) victims called “Hit Strikes Back at Yolanda”. It was a concert in collaboration with Hit Productions, my then employer, which featured ten of the biggest Filipino musicians all coming together in a show to help Tacloban, the province most greatly devastated by the typhoon. We raised enough money to help rebuild some infrastructures and donate food and basic necessities to the residents. I remember we had to implement it within the span of five days because time was of the essence. Booking all the acts, getting the promo materials out there, and making sure logistics were all smooth sailing was stressful, but the adrenaline rush and seeing the results was kept me on a high and hugely fulfilled.
Over the past ten years, I’ve worked in retail marketing and Client / Account Services for advertising clients. As a fresh graduate, I worked as a Marketing Associate for one of the Philippines’ biggest retail groups whose brands include DC, Sanuk, The North Face, American Tourists etc. I conceptualised and implemented Marketing Campaigns, from events and in-store promos, to co-brand partnerships and media relationships. After my stint in retail, I was headhunted and was hired in the Client Services department of Hit Productions, an audio production house / music studio that did audio for ads including Coca-cola, McDonald’s, the Department of Tourism and other major clients etc.
Beyond work, my passions include writing freelance lifestyle articles (my beat being skincare and beauty, as well as music and concert reviews), yoga, board gaming, craft beer, and my two Dogs Max and Dani. Since moving to Melbourne, I have been working as a waitress and in retail. This is a whole new chapter of my life, and I am up for anything!
