About Johanna

I am in the final semester of my industrial design honours program at RMIT University. My research is exploring the use of technology to help people maintain their second language speaking skills within the home. My key area of interest in the design sphere is UI/UX design but I also have skills in 3D modelling (Solidworks, Fusion 360), programming and hardware (Arduino, Processing), human centred design, design research and branding.
In 2017, I received a New Colombo plan scholarship from the Australian government and studied for a semester at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) where I learned about coding, user experience design, design research methodologies and (most importantly) how to eat ramen at any hour of the day.
My design projects range from a video game called 'Chicarus' (don't let the chicken get too close to the sun), a friendship 'Pebbl' to keep friends on top of each other's mental health, a vibrating paintbrush holder with a heart rate sensor for angsty artists, an app to keep track of domestic cats (concept only), a device to connect South Korean hikers to tourists and an app to help Melburnians learn about their natural environment (using AR software). These projects are available at www.joquinn.com.au
On top of my design projects, I have two travel blogs (one about Japan and one about South Korea), I learn Japanese, Korean and Mandarin, I have experience running my own small jewellery business and work experience working for local startups helping with 3D visualisation and design strategies. I am incredibly motivated and hardworking and hope to use my creative and analytical brain to solve really boring problems in really exciting ways.
