About Daniel

My name is Daniel Weinberg and I have just completed my Masters in Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales. My previous degrees, while providing valuable technical skills and knowledge, particularly in the areas of programming and electronics gained during my Electrical Engineering degree, also gave me the ability to problem solve. This skill is crucial with projects that are unfamiliar or in cases where unexpected problems arise. Even in cases where my knowledge may be lacking, I believe that I have the motivation and the drive to learn and pick up the required skills in order to tackle problems. The reason I chose to do my Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering is due to the fact that I am passionate about working in the medical field. I enjoy the aspects of problem solving that come with working as an Engineer and the fact that the problems being solved are medically related and assist patients with diseases or injuries makes this far more rewarding. In the Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering degree and the Master’s Biomedical Engineering degree, I have been exposed to many subjects that I believe would give me the skills required to be valuable to the company. In terms of knowledge and working with specialized equipment, I have completed subjects in Biomedical Instrumentation, Biomedical Imaging and Biomedical Measurements. In the Master’s degree, I have completed subjects in instrumentation as well as Biosensors and transducers. In the Biomedical Instrumentation course, I was exposed to the general working principles of different clinical machines which included X-rays, CT scans and MRIs. Additionally, in terms of regulations, I have completed a subject in regulatory requirements for biomedical technology and therefore have some understanding of the international standards (ISO). In terms of operating instrumentation in a research environment, my degrees have exposed me to working with ultrasounds, EMGs, EEGs and ECGs. In my Electrical Engineering degrees I have been exposed to working with many different types of measuring equipment and have always ensured that I utilized any equipment I use in a way that was completely safe and would not cause any damage to the machine or people using it. I believe that I am a people person who has no problem forming strong relationships with people that I meet. I believe that I am able to explain solutions and technical concepts to people in a way that is simple to understand but at the same time, is not condescending.
