About James
I am a student at Deakin University and I am currently on my trimester break before university resumes on March 4th. I do not know definitively what my timetable for this semester will be like as of yet, but I submitted my preferences today (February 4th) and at this stage it is looking like I will only be on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays during Trimester 1. Trimester 1 is from March 4th until May 24th, with an intra-trimester break in-between from April 19th to April 28th. My preferences will not be allocated to me until February 14th.
I only have four units left to finish this year, two to complete during Trimester 1 (March 4th to May 24th) and two to complete during Trimester 2 (July 8th to September 26th), before I complete my Bachelor of Arts (Professional and Creative Writing) degree, which I have been undertaking at Deakin’s Burwood Campus since 2015. I intermitted from my course in 2017 in order to recharge my batteries and would have finished my degree last year had I not dropped all of my Trimester Two and Three units due to burnout. I have a good grade average and I am hoping to get invited to do honors once I have finished my degree, and would love the opportunity to complete a master’s degree in the future. I also hope to one day become a novelist and screen writer, though I am genuinely interested in pursuing almost any career in the various creative arts industries.
I have previous experience in the retail industry, having worked at Kmart Keysborough from 2011 until 2014. During that time I mainly worked in replenishment, putting stock on shelves, cleaning the stock room, and helping customers with inquires while on the main floor. I worked on the checkouts at the start of my tenure, but only for a couple of weeks. Last year and the year before I also undertook casual work at Sitro Group Australia, making mud maps in Microsoft Excel with product specifications and other details gathered from online retail outlets like Supercheap Auto. These mud maps helped the company conduct market analysis and decide what product lines to bring into Australia. I am more than capable of doing whatever the job throws at me, especially when equipped with the proper training.
