About Asha
I am Dr. Asha Lakkavaram, a graduate from Deakin University. I am looking for a suitable career in biology research where I can use my expertise. I am a temporary resident with full work rights in Australia.
My PhD thesis is titled “Dissecting the mechanism of severe malaria”. I have studied the changes occurring in bone marrow and spleen hematopoiesis in mice with malaria, using stem cell culture and flow cytometry. I also have experience in handling bacterial cultures and aseptic techniques.
In my previous job in biochemistry research at UNC, North Carolina, USA, I have gained hands on experience in biochemistry and molecular biology techniques such as expression and purification of recombinant proteins using FPLC, SDS PAGE electrophoresis and cloning techniques.
I have experience working in clinical setting as well during which I have studied the combined effects of Glypizide and dietary chromium supplements on insulin levels in type II diabetes patients. I have experience working with radio immune assay which I have used to measure serum insulin levels.
I am interested in applying for positions in biology position as they closely match my qualifications and my interests. I am a fast learner with good communication skills and feel that given a chance would prove my mettle.
