About Joshua
From early year 11 in High School I have had a keen interest in the legal profession. It wasn't until I got to University that I developed a new-found love for business, especially strategic initiatives that relate to mergers & acquisitions and supply chain integration, which directly relate to corporate group synergy. The turning point for me in the business portion of my degree was when I undertook the Strategic Management program whilst at Western Sydney University, facilitated by Harvard Business School. It helped me understand how investment decisions and overall company direction can influence business results, and my periodic review within the Delta Signal Corporation simulation directly led to a 50% increase in sales, along with increase in Dividends and Earnings.
My legal interest stemmed from the international human rights law, and international crime. From this point I have shifted my approach to corporate law, especially project finance, share issuance and merger & acquisitions. Why? Because to me, these are all necessary features which contribute to the longevity and impact that a business will have on its direct customers along with stakeholders, including society. My goal is to facilitate and advise on these matters with a 'spin', by evaluating whether the 'target' (company to be acquired) will actually support the core competency or competitive advantage of the soon to be parent company or will it lead to significant losses and compromise their ability to pay off creditors.
As an extension of this I realise that the legal profession, and business consulting are high intensity professions which require long hours and potentially travel. However, if a new virtual workplace system can be developed to support my future career endeavours and positively influence other professions it will be a considerable benefit to the economy and society at large.
