Luis Quijano is a PhD candidate in Fashion and Biotechnology at the Queensland University of Technology, and a recipient of the Fulbright Future Scholarship and the Australian RTP Scholarship for international students. As a biotextile scientist and fashion designer, he is researching bacterial cellulose (a leather-like material grown using water, sugar, green tea and kombucha tea), and developing its applications in the textile and apparel industry.
