Hi, my name is Nicholas Poole. At the moment I am currently studying game design and development, and I have also completed a Diploma of Animation prior to starting the Bachelor. The Diploma I completed gave me a great understanding of 3D character animation, along with 3D design techniques, as well as creating the necessary documentation, such as art bibles, style guides and story boards which are all crucial in creating animations. Out of everything that I learnt from the diploma I really enjoyed 3D design, more specifically environmental design. I enjoy creating things, and building 3D models is a great way to show off my creativity and enthusiasm for the craft. Creating prop objects like furniture is something that I enjoys doing in my spare time, as well as working on larger projects such as model house creation for which I an working off house plans at a scale of 1:1.
As for the Bacholor I am studying I am only a year in but I really enjoy it. There have been many times that it is just completely overwhelming, but I'm someone who enjoys a challenge as well as proving to myself that I can achieve something that I thought that I never would, such as gaining an understanding of C++ to the point where I an able it create a relatively simplistic arcade style game. I look forward to seeing what the rest of my course has to offer, and what other challenges face me in the future.
