About Sheng
I am a final year Master of Engineering (Civil) student at University of Melbourne, specialising in geotechnics and civil structures, due to graduate in December 2017. I was a site engineer for a mass rapid transport project in Malaysia, liaising with a sub-contractor for ground improvement works. My objective is to obtain an engineering consulting and technical design experience, but I am open to any role within the engineering and construction industry.
As the School Outreach Manager for Engineers Without Borders (EWB), I organised and presented engineering workshops to school students, encouraging STEM studies and inspiring future engineers whom I may work with in future. My passion in engineering education is driven by the existing education gap around the world.
Furthermore, I am constantly developing myself and expanding my professional network by attending Engineers Australia and Australian Geomechanics Society activities, such as the presentation on WestConnex, or landslide risk assessment fieldtrip to the Yarra Ranges. I have also completed online courses in geoscience, programming and water as part of my lifelong learning commitment.
