About Giuliano
Currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Commerce - Bachelor of Laws at the University of Wollongong, I am looking to gain further exposure to real world business problems and the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to address these problems.
I believe I have a strong entrepreneurial mindset. This commenced in Year 9 High School. During this time, I would purchase Paddlepops with capital given to me by my parents (Lunch Money) from the local store and resell them individually to class mates at the bus stop for a pure profit. (Whilst being too naïve to realise the 'Not for Individual Sale' clause). Ever since then I have always been thinking of product development and opportunities in the market. My membership with UOW Entrepreneur Club has allowed me to develop my ideas further. Combined with my exposure to my Law and Commerce studies, I believe I possess a thinking ability that enables me to look at problems through a different perspective, thus differing me from other candidates.
In 2017 I competed in UOW iUnivative. iUnivative is a collaborative, work skill development program co-organised by Careers Central and iAccelerate. It is designed as a team-based competition for UOW students to exercise their skills to provide best solutions to address a certain business challenge.
At the beginning of the competition, I was elected as Team Leader by my team of diverse and talented students. Our objective was to work for StabilCo, a road based start up company who prided themselves on their innovative technology systems. StabilCo faced considerable barriers to the introduction of their product into the marketplace, so it was our objective to develop a range of options on how to overcome this problem. After 3 intense weeks we developed a range of strategies that aimed at combatting the issue. Not only did we focus on the issue, but we developed strategies aimed at pushing the business further globally with the intention of increasing sales and market share.
My role as team leader was to correspond with the CEO of StabilCo and report back to the team. I would then be heavily involved in keeping the team up to date and providing them with all the correct information to progress. I had to research relevant industry information, and develop innovative strategies. I was involved in report writing and participated in the final pitch to a 3 judge panel at the end of the competition period. With this team effort, we were declared winners for 2017.
My success in this competition is direct evidence of my ability to listen to a client, and then work coherently in a team using communication skills and coordination to provide adequate solutions for that client.
My roles as Team Leader of IGA Nightfill and involvement in the UOW Club The Smoking Duck further illustrate my ability to work in a team environment whilst accommodating for my own individual tasks.
