About Mohit
I'm a graduate mechanical engineer from the University of Melbourne with four years of work experience as a Project engineer and additional experience in market research and customer service, seeking an opportunity to engage in a challenging and vibrant environment.
Before moving to Australia for postgraduate studies, I have worked as a Project Engineer in a thermal power plant. During this role, my key responsibilities extended from project planning and scheduling, monitoring a $15 million thermal project, liaising with the external and internal stakeholders to deliver the project on time. By streamlining the purchase procedures, I was able to help my team in reducing the cost of substitute materials by over 15%. My proactive approach, teamwork and communication skills along with my knowledge of South-Asian languages including Hindi and Punjabi, will help me in communicating with the required stakeholders to deliver the projects on time.
My personal goal has always been to direct myself towards opportunities and challenges that promote growth. This led me to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Melbourne where my most valuable experience has been my role as a Team Leader for the Gearbox design project, where I led a team of 5 student engineers to redesign a gearbox. The combined efforts of my team allowed us to innovate, 3D print and assemble a working prototype of the gearbox. Additionally, I have also volunteered as a Team development coordinator for Relay for Life event organised by Cancer Council Victoria in which I coordinated with my team to raise awareness and funds by approaching businesses in Melbourne CBD.
Furthermore, I’m currently working as a Market Research Surveyor for I-View Pty Ltd. I’m accountable for collecting benchmarking information on standards that need to be met by Metro Trains and Yarra Trams in Melbourne. This role along with my LIVE Projects internship where I led a team to deliver a consulting project for Skillinvest institution, has shown me that being customer oriented is the way of the future for any progressive organisation.
In my prior roles, I have illustrated my ability to work independently and as a part of high-performance teams. My motivation to be my best and commitment to achieve goals will allow me to fit into the work environment where I will be able to support the team.
