About Gisela
Hi there! I am a very cheerful, driven and enthusiastic recent graduate of Bachelor of Arts (Media Studies) in 2016 and Bachelor of Communication (Honours) in December 2017. I have a range of interests and experiences, but most of all I am a high achiever who loves to work with various people and businesses and who is always hungry to learn!Work experience
I am always in search of ways to make things better, so I can not wait to meet you in person to find out how I can help make your world or your organization a better place. Cheers!
- Intern at Dimension Data: March - December 2017
- Social Media and Graphic Design volunteer at The LIL Project (NFP): April 2016 - November 2017
- Graphic Designer at ACV Global, Barcelona: Oct - Dec 2015
- Various hospitality roles, Melbourne: 2015 - 2017
- Sales, Jakarta: 2014
- Adobe Suite: As a graphic designer, I am highly familiar with the Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign.
- Microsoft Office: I am extremely comfortable with Microsoft Word, capable of creating beautiful and effective presentations in Powerpoint, and have experience in creating spreadsheets in Excel.
- Photography: I graduated from a prestigious photography course in Indonesia, the Darwis Triadi Photography School.
- Wordpress and social media content: During the course of my degree and time volunteering for a NFP, I learned how to develop content for both Wordpress and social media, as well as how to incorporate one into the other.
- Graduated Bachelor of Arts (Media Studies) with distinction and graduated Bachelor of Communications (Honours) with First Class.
- Arts & Education Faculty Peer Mentor at Deakin, for Trimesters 1 and 2 of 2017.
- Deakin Think Tank Challenge 2016 Runner-Up: A business challenge involving public speaking, teamwork, research, critical and spontaneous thinking, problem solving and presentation design.
- Global Citizenship Awards 2016 from Deakin University's Global Citizenship Program.
- Startup Experience Attendee with Henrik Scheel, 2016: Attendee of an intensive 2-day workshop which taught design thinking and how to launch a startup.
- Public speaking: the Dimension Data CIO was so impressed by my presentation during a university event that he approached and recruited me to work with them! :)
- Leadership: I was a peer mentor at Deakin University for 2 trimesters, helping new students settle in to the university environment.
- Working independently and in a team: At Dimension Data, I was given a wide breath of responsibility to do my projects, which often means I would have to work with little supervision. However, I made sure to involve the appropriate people within the organisation, arranging meetings to receive feedback and consulting the key decision makers when making critical decisions. Everyone I worked with loved my attitude and how easy I was to work with, which meant I would receive increasing loads of work - along with responsibility - each time.
- Time management and efficiency: Juggling full-time study with work, mentoring, not-for-profit activities while getting Distinctions, having a social life and keeping healthy would be impossible without having great efficiency at everything I do. I believe that it's not about how much you work, it's about how you do the work!
I am always in search of ways to make things better, so I can not wait to meet you in person to find out how I can help make your world or your organization a better place. Cheers!
