About Hana

My name is Hana Tilahun James. I am currently a student at Deakin University. Where I am undertaking my Masters in International Relations, specialising in international political economy and global governance. In my Bachelors, I majored in International Relations and minored in Anthropology. My expertise lies within the study of international relations, world religions, the study of people, cultures, Middle Eastern studies, terrorism and security.
I am a confident and articulate individual who is able to work with others to achieve set outcomes. My experiences so far have provided me with valuable employable skills and personal attributes such as communication and problem solving. I am a motivated, independent individual whose key strengths include attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop professionally. Volunteer Work
• Indonesia (2014): through Green School Camp, learnt new skills for schooling, working and environmental sustainability skills allowing myself to contribute to the community. • Relay for life team leader (2013): organising numerous fundraising events including BBQs, cupcakes stalls and car washes, managing to raise close to $3,000 for cancer research. • The day of the African Child (2009,2010, 2011): An event that highlighted the genocides that have happened in the continent. Allowing the African community of Cairns to come together to celebrate the many different cultures found in Africa. My role over the years was organising youth activities, speeches and presentations presented on the night and also promoting the event. • Tutoring (2015, 2016): Helping and supporting other young university students through International Relations subjects, proof reading and exam prep. • Hope For children (2009, 2014-2015): Working with children and youths affected by HIV and AIDS in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa). Teaching English, and creative arts to support them mentally and physically to prepare them for when they leave the homes.
