About Howard
I am a third year student studying a Bachelor of Science (Mechatronics major) in the University of Melbourne. With my general focus towards Mechatronics, my electives have been on programming. I am proficient in Python, Java and C, as well as Object Oriented Programming and the Agile Methodology. Recently I have been interested in Machine Learning and developing my knowledge and skills of that topic outside the classroom.
I currently volunteer as Campaigns Advisor for Oaktree. I am in charge of resource creation and data management as well as administering and maintaining internal communication channels. This is where I developed skills for agile methodology and strong leadership and teamwork, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with a team of people very different from me.
I am also a part of the National Instrument Autonomous Robotics Competition team for the University of Melbourne, as part of the Autonomous Robotics Research Project. We are building an autonomous robot to be able to traverse terrain and perform tasks. My current research is to do with algorithms regarding traversal. It has been very useful to apply mechatronics concepts to a problem, as well as work with a talented team.
I have also participated in coding and entrepreneurship challenges, but I am now looking to apply my skills in a professional environment. I have experience not only in programming and electrical/mechanical systems, but also the production of visual media, all of which have been practiced in and outside of University. I am always motivated and looking to better myself and any team I am surrounded by.
