About Emily

I am a motivated Bachelor of Psychological Science student with a special interest in implicit perception and it's influence on social psychological processes such as prejudice and stereotypes. My knowledge in this area of study has recently expanded as a result of volunteer work with an Australian Catholic University (ACU) research team exploring the influence of gender-association on implicit processes. In addition to providing me with practical experience within the field of psychology, this project has instilled in me the values of equity and ethical practice. These values have been further instilled by my coursework which placed a focus on ethics, an appreciation of cross-cultural issues, and evidence-based decision-making. Preceding my return to study, I had success in various managerial and supervisory positions within retail and hospitality settings. For example, I was offered a supervisory position within 6 months of employment at Coffee HQ and subsequently, offered the role of Manager at 2 coffee sites within Parliament Station. Further, my position at Notions Unlimited Bookshop was a result of direct recruitment by the business owner - a previous co-worker.
Through out my time in these roles, I developed numerous professional skills in relation to organisation, administration, task-prioritisation, and team leadership. These professional skills, coupled with my developing knowledge of human behaviour and evidence-based decision-making, make me a versatile, reliable, and assertive team-member. Ultimately, I hope to utilise these skills for the purposes of promoting individual welfare for marginalised groups, by facilitating and increasing the availability of social equity.
