About Matthew
Currently studying at RMIT University I am actively involved in an extra-curricular program to enhance my skills and leadership qualities. This is the RMIT Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Research Team where I have gained hands on experience in manufacturing, avionics and systems engineering. Our team in previous years, led by Dr. Reece Clothier had successfully developed a multipurpose UAV designed specifically for Maritime environments. This UAV is designed to conduct surveillance and act as an early warning system for the Defence Science & Technology Group (DSTG) and the U.S NAVY.
This past year I have completed my final year research project where I successfully reduced the sound pressure level of a UAS propeller. This research project has shown me how to conduct and analyse experimental tests related to noise and has broadened my engineering knowledge.
I have a passion for flying, designing and building remote control aircraft where I have successfully designed and built scale models in teams at university as well as in my spare time.
My current interests lie in the manufacturing and design area. I have worked with different flight controllers and am constantly diagnosing problems that I come across.
