About Juan
I am Mechanical Engineer (B.Sc. & M.Sc.) doing a Master of Environmental Engineering – at The University of Melbourne - with a strong interest on Sustainability. I am a critical professional with industry and research experience solving complex engineering problems. Furthermore, I am goal oriented, self-driven and a team player who can work efficiently under pressure and within multidisciplinary teams.
During my bachelor degree I started my research experience undertaking several projects within the Structural Integrity Research Group and Computational Mechanics Research Group. This allowed me to apply and get involved in a top level engagement program between the university Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia) and the multinational company Siemens. This program sponsored my master degree and at the same time I worked for Siemens as a research assistant developing a computational model to improve the efficiency of Electric Transformer’s Cooling System.
After three years working as an Applications Engineer at the Research and Development team of Siemens Distribution Transformer division, I applied and gained a scholarship from a Colombian governmental organization and together with an Scholarship from the Engineer School of the University of Melbourne I could start my master of Environmental Engineering.
At this moment, I am finishing my first semester of this master undertaking subjects such as Monitoring Environmental Impacts, Environmental Analysis Tools, Energy Efficiency Technology and Sustainable Buildings.
