My name is Hiba Hammoud, I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism), while having minored in Public Relations. I am currently looking for a full time position, with a an organization/team who is willing to invest their time into me building, developing and improving my skills that I learnt through both university and previous internships. This position interested me because I know it will give me the chance to learn and develop new skills as well as step out of my comfort zone. Although I learnt how to write for print and digital media, I have also learnt how to represent a company, as well as connect with audiences, build a reputation, and create media strategies both through university as well as previous internships. Despite myself majoring in Journalism and minoring in Public Relations, I strongly believe that the hands on skills I have obtained both inside and outside of my degree (such as proficient writing, planning, organization, communication), can be of great use to your team, and believe I can have a great input to current and future projects. I have had just under two years of experience in managing internal and external communications in two different not for profit organizations. In my time with SDSN Youth (outlined in my resume), working as the administrative assistant, as well as in the communications team, I was exposed to global media contacts as my job was to bring exposure to the youth organization.
Similarly, as a public relations officer at Klara Cosmetics, I was in constant contact with magazines across Australia, since it was very much a new make-up company that needed their products to be advertised. Therefore, as you can see, I have had a couple years of experience dealing with the media effectively. In both internships, I was thrown in the deep end, and still managed to write up communication strategy documents, as well as event plan, while keeping an eye on their media exposure online. It was very much a full time job, and committed several hours outside of my working hours to make sure everything was run smoothly. Throughout high school and university, I was very much involved in public speaking, event management and undertook many leadership roles. My employers, and professional networks describe me as very outspoken, easy to get along with and able to work in a team efficiently as well as lead a team.
