About Benjamin
I am an economics/communications graduate (79.5 GPA in my final year) and current Masters of International Business student aiming to develop a career in both management consulting and policy development. Overall, I am fascinated by economics and strategy in business I especially enjoy building models and commercial tactics that can have real empirical impact. I am passionate about in international marketing, behavioural economics, and corporate innovation and would love to help any kind of professional business expand and build through any means possible.
Employment I've worked with a number of start-up companies including Gavl (an application for live-streaming auctions) and Fresho (an online platform connecting food businesses) in which I mostly assisted with administration and account support by liaising with clients (the aspect I've enjoyed most) and editing excel databases for internal company review. I've loved these experiences as they've given me the opportunity to learn the mechanics and inner workings of medium-scale businesses, as well as providing me with the knowledge to tackle a variety of business related problems. - I have been a key member of a management consulting team for a philanthropic microfinance organisation in Indonesia as part of the Melbourne Microfinance Initiative. Indeed, our latest project involved one in which my team and I provided social impact assessment by financially quantifying investors' wider societal influence by using a road map of impact influences, financial proxies, and experimental design.
- In terms of marketing and communications, I have also taken part in a project over my final semester dedicated to creating a marketing strategy for the 2018 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, in which we explored ways to create accessibility for a younger audience. Through well-researched qualitative and quantitative methods, our strategies primarily focused on social media marketing methods through Instagram and Facebook - using influences, content creation and sponsored posts.I also regularly exercise my love for writing through my contributions to the University of Melbourne’s magazine and radio program, in which I created, edited, and published an assortment of journalistic pieces including investigative journalism, short-stories, and scripts for radio shows.
