About Shaleen
I am a recent Master of Construction Management graduate from the University of Adelaide, with a background in Civil Engineering. I am inquisitive and ferociously curious about the world around me. I am resilient and strong minded, and I like solving problems by analysing the case from a wider perspective. I believe in sharing my ideas and insights that I've gained from various experiences in my life with others to further improve my own perspective on things.
I have relevant experience as a Trainee Site Engineer on a commercial building site as well as a Summer Intern on a road asset management project. Both of these experiences motivated me to pursue higher studies in the field of construction.
I arrived in Australia just a month prior to Covid and subsequent lockdowns. Throughout that time I have been brave and practical to my approach in life. I was unable to find part-time work to support myself while I was studying for 8 months, but that could not deter me from being optimistic and positive about my future. Soon enough after that, I started working in various part-time roles and finally I have a stable part-time job at Woolworths Supermarket. I have built a growth mindset because of the tough situations that I have endured, which I believe will propel me towards good opportunities in life.
I am very passionate about sports, fitness, music, and travel. Apart from that, I consider myself to be a part-time geek as I love reading books, articles and newspapers.
